The Department of Public Health at the Faculty of Health, Aarhus University invites applications for a 2-year position as Postdoc in a qualitative study of social inequalities in health per May 1, 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a full-time position.
As a postdoc at the Department of Public Health, you will be part of an ambitious and internationally recognised department, where we work together to promote public health through research into areas that can prevent, treat and alleviate disease. We are involved in broad collaboration both internally and externally. We share our knowledge with citizens, decision-makers, business and industry, practitioners and other researchers – in municipalities, in the regions and both nationally and internationally. The department either contributes to or is responsible for teaching in medicine, public health science, sport science, optometry and nursing. At the Department of Public Health, you will have approx. 200 colleagues, including ninety academic staff members and a corresponding number of PhD students. We work closely with one another across different fields of study and prioritise a healthy work environment. The general tone among colleagues is informal. The postdoc researcher will work with colleagues to conduct a qualitative study to analyse how a novel model integrated mental health services (FACT) can give people with severe mental illness more integrated health care access. The first part of the study focuses on the perspectives of people with mental illness, and explores their experiences with using health care services. The study draws on observations and interviews, supported by photo diaries, based on a close tailoring to accommodate the specific group of informants. The second part of the study analyses organizational practices of integrated care with the help of observations and individual/focus group interviews with health professionals and managers. In addition, the postdoc researcher will also assist with a qualitative study of the intersectoral organization of health promotion for women who develop high risk for diabetes during pregnancy (FACE-IT). This includes organizing data collection, contributing to data analysis and co-writing an article manuscript.
You will report to the either Assistant Professor Michael Fehsenfeld / Associate Professor Viola Burau.
At the same time, you have strong assets, which include a completed thesis in the fields of health care organization or studies of health professions, authorship of peer-reviewed publications, experience with developing and applying qualitative research methods and experience with the presentation of research results.
As a person, you are ambitious, take ownership and possess good communication and interpersonal skills. We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English and in a Scandinavian language.

About the research project and job responsibilities
The research area for this 2 year postdoc position is primarily for a qualitative study on organizational determinants of social inequalities of health (75 percent of FT equivalent). The postdoc researcher will also contribute to the completion of a study on integrated health promotion. Your competences
You have academic qualifications at PhD level, preferably within one or more of the following areas sociology, anthropology, political science, public health, or related disciplines. You have a strong interest in health care organization/health professions, a strong interest in developing and applying qualitative methods and an inquisitive mind-set and the ability to plan, organize and execute work independently.At the same time, you have strong assets, which include a completed thesis in the fields of health care organization or studies of health professions, authorship of peer-reviewed publications, experience with developing and applying qualitative research methods and experience with the presentation of research results.
