Postdoctoral Scholar position

Area:                   Printed UV Light Sensors 

Duration:             1 year (possibility for renewal subject to performance)  

Start date:           September 1, 2021  

Salary:                 45,000-55,000 $ CAD per year (depending on experience), plus Postdoctoral Plan C health benefits

The Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a   Postdoctoral Scholar in Printed UV-Light Sensors.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be expected to develop printed UV-light sensors and establish protocols for large area film and module fabrication using slot-die and/or spray coating. The work will involve the use or organic molecules/polymers and metal oxides. There are opportunities for chemical synthesis. The work builds off this recent publication: doi.org/10.1002/adsu.202100055. The candidate will be required to work within a team environment, thus excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of interdisciplinary researchers is required. Qualifications:

PhD in chemistry, physics, or materials science with an emphasis on organic materials.
Ability to design/synthesize UV-light sensitive materials, characterize organic materials, and/or fabricate and test printed sensors.
Experience with roll-coating techniques is desired.
