PhD Student in Microeconomics

 


The Department of Economics of the University of Bern seeks to fill the position of a
PhD Student in Microeconomics.

The focus of the position is research in (applied) microeconomic theory, ranging broadly from industrial organization to organizational and behavioral economics. You, the suc-cessful candidate, are expected to attend the Swiss Program for Beginning Doctoral Students in Economics at the Study Center Gerzensee and to participate in the teaching and research activities of the microeconomics group of the Department of Economics.

By joining us, you become an integral part of a dynamic, interactive, and research-ori-ented group of PhD students, postdocs, and professors working jointly in the field of microeconomic theory. We share our work in regular reading groups and seminars. Further, by participating in the structured graduate program at the Study Center Gerzen-see, you benefit from PhD-level courses taught by internationally renowned research-ers. We take our role as advisors seriously and want you to succeed in reaching your goals. In particular, we prepare students for the academic job market as well as for po-sitions in public and private institutions.
The position requires a master's degree in economics or a related field such as mathe-matics, physics, or computer science. However, we welcome applications from students who are close to finishing their degree, too. Some training in economics and strong analytical skills strengthens your application, while proficiency in English is a prerequi-site. Our department aims to increase the proportion of female researchers and encour-ages women to apply.
Gross yearly salary is subject to the regulations of the University of Bern and is interna-tionally competitive.
